On the Run
I have a rule I try to live my life by, which is to avoid getting too cocky or bragging a lot, unless the person I’m with knows that it’s a joke. First, that kind of behavior makes you a bit unpleasant to be around, and second, I just know in my heart that if I am overly cocky, something like the following is going to happen.

I mean, it’s embarrassing to step in a hole and break your ankle in front of all your fellow soldiers, but it’s much more embarrassing to do so immediately after you have trash-talked one of them because you’re running faster than they are. See, you could save yourself some embarrassment by being a kind person.
