My stance on insects is that I have no qualms about killing them in my own house—this is my space, and I did not invite them into it, after all—but that I will leave them alone if I find them outside; that’s their space, and I’m just lucky that they’re not killing me the way I kill them when they come into my house.

This kid did not learn that important lesson to leave insects alone when she’s outside, and the bee that she killed got one final act of revenge. There’s a bit of poetic justice in there, really; the act of violence she committed against an innocent bee came around and hurt her as well.
