#14: The Death Spiral

One of the most special kinds of unlikely events is the witnessing of extraordinary happenings in nature. It’s not that the happenings themselves are necessarily out of the ordinary, but it’s just rare for humans to get to witness them with our own eyes. And we’re so used to seeing them on video that we don’t even realize.

It certainly must feel like a real miracle witnessing two eagles “death spiraling,” but I wonder whether there isn’t just a hint of awkwardness at the feeling of invading those poor eagles’ privacy. It’s funny how animals don’t seem to have any shame about where and when it is they mate.
