Poisoned Apple

Candy-coated apples are a fall staple, and this craftsman took it to a whole new level by creating a nod to the fairytale of Snow White. Unlike the Disney movie, the “real” Snow White died of poisoning at the young age of 21. Theorists believe that the story is based on the life of Margaretha von Waldeck.

Margaretha was born in 1533 in Germany, and her stepmother sent her off to live in Brussels at the age of 16. She stumbled upon a prince and fell in love, much to the chagrin of her parents. It’s said that she was murdered by Spanish agents of the King of Spain for daring to tempt his son.
