#8: “Full as a Tick”
Growing up in the backwoods comes with its own set of instincts—like keeping an eye out for ticks. These little parasites are relentless, latching on and feeding until they’re swollen to the brim. That’s where the Southern saying “full as a tick” comes from.

If you’ve just eaten so much that you can barely move, you’re as stuffed as a tick that’s had its fill. It’s a colorful way to describe that post-feast feeling when you’re leaning back, unbuttoning your jeans, and wondering why you went for that second helping.
