Unorthodox Treatment
Oftentimes, shelter workers don’t receive a ton of information about the animals they rescue. Many are either just lost or feral. However, vets and shelter employees are keenly aware that some rescues may have endured battered homes where there was physical and maybe even emotional abuse. After shelter workers tried everything, one anxious rescued pooch still refused to eat.

However, this caring vet did not give up and doubled down on their efforts by trying a rather unorthodox method. He climbed into the cage to join the dog for mealtime. We’re not sure if it worked. However, we like to believe this kind, creative, and patient gesture was the first step toward building back her trust in humans.
