#12: Eat First
We applaud anybody who takes that first step toward eating more healthy, but it is so easy to get carried away with a new resolve to eat better. Not all fruits and vegetables can be rescued with a jar full of water, so what happens to the other produce you overbuy? If you work out a system that you can stick to, you might not waste much food.

Keep a bin in your refrigerator labeled “Eat Me First.” This will help you and your family members track what is on the verge of spoiling first. Rather than accidentally eating the products purchased more recently, you can draw attention to what is older and is in danger of going bad. Hey, it may even encourage somebody to eat a healthier snack just to avoid having food go bad. Stranger things have happened.
