If you’re of a certain age you might agree that in past decades, schools were much stricter, with boomers experiencing strict measures that could involve corporal punishment. These rigorous conditions might explain why many boomers possess beautifully neat, flowing cursive handwriting today, a testament to the educational rigor of their time.

Contrastingly, millennials often exhibit less polished penmanship, a shift attributed to educational reforms. In 2010, U.S. educational policies relaxed the mandatory teaching of cursive writing, leading to its lesser emphasis in schools. Although some institutions continue to teach cursive, it’s clear that its priority has significantly dwindled in contemporary education.
