If you are an American traveling abroad, here’s a tip about tipping: not every country tips, and the ones that do tip don’t necessarily all do it the same way. So before you go somewhere, get online and brush up on the etiquette of the place that you’re going to visit. If you tip when you are not supposed to, at best you’ll have wasted money, and at worst, you’ll have insulted your server.

Whether or not to tip in the UK is a bit of a gray area. Tipping definitely does happen, but it’s not expected or done to the extent that you see in the United States. The point of this is to say that for these football players (yes, I deliberately said it the British way) to have left such a nice tip when it wasn’t required is pretty awesome.
