#21: Behaving Like an Animal
Do you ever feel bad for animals? Think about it: we use the phrase “behaving like an animal” to describe the absolute worst behavior that humans can get up to. It’s rather insulting to animals, if you think about it, especially when you consider that we have the capacity for higher brain functions, so when we behave badly, it’s even worse than when an animal does the same thing.

Take this case. A woman biting someone to get what she wants is the sort of thing an angry raccoon might do, but an angry raccoon has the defense that it is, in fact, an animal. This woman behaving that way when she’s capable of choosing otherwise makes her worse than the raccoon. So let’s not offend the poor animals by describing her behavior that way.
