#12: A Very Useful Engine

Look, people, I don’t want to tell you how to raise your children. OK, that’s not true, I have loads of opinions about raising children, and I am utterly convinced that they are all correct, but that’s not what we are here to talk about. We are here to talk about buying your children toys on Black Friday.

So yes, I do want to tell you how to raise your children, but I will limit myself to this piece of advice: if your child’s happiness is entirely contingent on getting the right toy, and if your happiness is entirely contingent on getting that child that toy, maybe you’re putting too much emphasis on toys. Your kid not getting the exact train they want at a Black Friday sale should not ruin either of your lives.
