#10: Say Yes to the Dress

I think the next might go on the shortlist for my favorite Black Friday stories I’ve read. There is so much delightful absurdity in here, starting with the fact that these people were so worked up about a dress at Urban Outfitters. Come on, guys, it’s Urban Outfitters. Is it worth all of this hysteria? And getting up at 4:30 in the morning?

And then there is the absolute delight that is the punchline of the story. I can see it playing out in my head like a movie: the brawling girls, their worried mothers, and the gathered crowd. And then, a small figure creeps forward while no one is looking and makes off with the contested dress. It’s just a very satisfying mental image.
