#39: Fart-Town

Well, here we actually have a well-known and somewhat controversial symbol being once again repurposed to suit the interests of its latest appropriator. Known as the Gadsden flag, it’s been a symbol for everyone from Socialists to Libertarians, and here it is now in the service of those who just want to be flatulent in peace.

Although it is understandable in and of itself to desire a safe space in which to pass wind, I would have hoped most people out there have slightly higher aspirations. That’s especially true when evoking such contentious imagery steeped in historical baggage. Oh well, I guess there’s nothing more twenty-first century than this.
