Warren G. Harding, the 29th president of the United States, served from 1921 until his untimely death in 1923. Though his presidency occurred during the Prohibition era, Harding did not try to hide his opposition to the alcohol ban.

In fact, he was known to host secret parties at his home, where food and drink flowed freely. Partygoers often noted that Harding had a go-to dish for these gatherings: knockwurst with sauerkraut. For reasons unknown, this classic pairing of savory sausage and tangy cabbage was his favorite, making it a staple at his clandestine soirées.
