#19: Franklin Pierce – Fannie Daddies
Franklin Pierce, the 14th president of the United States, hailed from New Hampshire but had a strong affinity for the American South. His Southern loyalties didn’t sit well with many in his home state, but Pierce didn’t seem too bothered—especially if he had a plate of “Fannie daddies” to enjoy.

You might not recognize the name, but Fannie daddies are what we now call clam fritters, a beloved Southern staple for generations. Pierce’s love for these crispy, savory bites ran so deep that he requested them wherever he traveled. A true testament to his Southern tastes despite his Northern roots!
