#15: Doritos for the Rest of Us

This fun survival fact will affirm people’s love or hate of Doritos. It depends on what your opinion about Doritos is in the first place. Anyway, Doritos are extremely flammable and can be used as a fire starter or kindling if you’re in a pinch. Now, unless they’re fans of the snack, we’re not sure how many people would have a bag of Doritos on hand when stranded in the wilderness, but that’s beside the point.

The point is that the flammability of Doritos is simultaneously cool and concerning. Are we really out here eating flammable corn chips? What is that doing to our body? Doritos are so flammable because of two ingredients: corn and vegetable oil. Ground corn and vegetable oils burn very well and can hold a lot of heat. Forgot the Doritos at your campsite? Cheetos and Fritos also work.
