#12: Burn Bright
Did you know that pine tree sap is highly flammable? It seems unlikely, but it’s true. In fact, the flammability of pine tree sap is widely known in the outdoor community. This naturally occurring, flammable substance can come in handy if you’re ever stranded in the wilderness and in dire straits.

You can cover a shirt or bit of fabric in pine tree sap and light it on fire, creating an impromptu torch. Pine tree sap contains a high concentration of resin, which is what makes it extremely flammable. You can even make turpentine with tree sap. While flammable tree sap can be bad in some situations, it’s extremely helpful to humans who need to see at night.
