#35: Approach First
Being followed by store staff is a common experience for many of us, and the stats back it up. Studies have shown that people of color are more likely to be followed and watched in stores by staff, often due to racial profiling. It’s a frustrating, dehumanizing, and very tough experience.

It can be tough to shake the feeling that you’re not trusted or welcome in that space. The good news is that more and more people are speaking out against racial profiling in stores, and steps are being taken to address this issue. But until then, it’s important to know your rights and to continue to raise awareness.
