#34: Speak English

This one is just as ironic as the entry people. People may love to claim that everyone “should speak English” because “this is America,” but that’s factually wrong. For starters, America has no official language – so people are completely entitled to speak their own languages if they like. There’s no legal demand for English!

Additionally, many people who say this are just insecure about their own lack of language skills. They’re intimidated by people who are polyglots, and they try to take it out on them by telling them to speak English instead. It’s really stupid when you think about it – what is wrong with talking to your loved ones?
