#3: Hood On
Often, we have to keep our hoods off our sweatshirts to avoid being perceived as a threat or as up to no good. Unfortunately, this results from negative stereotypes and racial profiling that associates hoods with criminal behavior. In some public spaces, such as malls or government buildings, there may even be formal dress codes.

We must consciously choose to keep our hoods off to avoid any potential conflicts or misunderstandings. It’s just one of many small ways systemic racism can affect daily life and limit personal expression. We need to recognize and challenge these harmful biases and work towards creating a more equitable and inclusive society.
