#24: Followed Around
Racial profiling is not limited to small, independent stores; it’s also been reported in big chain stores and luxury retailers. According to a study by the National Retail Federation, over 60% of African American shoppers reported experiencing racial profiling while shopping. This causes customers to feel increased anxiety and unhappiness.

A separate survey found that nearly 70% of black shoppers felt unfairly targeted by store employees, compared to only 20% of white shoppers. Clearly, it’s a big problem. These cases demonstrate the need for continued efforts to address this issue to create a more inclusive shopping experience for all customers.
