Cases like this, where POC get accused of things they never did, are examples of what’s known as implicit racism. This is racism where people may not outwardly say slurs or racist words, but they show their racism in other ways. Sometimes, these people don’t even realize that they’re being racist.

That’s one of the reasons why this form of racism is so hard to stamp out, as it’s more challenging to spot it. It’s even harder to get people to notice their biases and work out a way to stop them. We should treat everybody equally, without prejudice or discrimination.
