#12: Sundown Towns
In case you didn’t know, sundown towns are places where African Americans could not be present after sunset. This resulted from widespread racial segregation and discrimination. Being in a sundown town after dark could lead to arrest, violence, or even death for people of color. There was no hope at this time.

Because of these rules, today, these places tend to be all-white neighborhoods where the citizens will be violent toward any POC they see. You should aim to be cautious and avoid sundown towns to protect yourself and your family from harm. It’s an unfortunate reality that we still have to deal with.
