#10: Terrible Toys

The sad truth is that not even our children are immune to racism. It’s perfectly fine for white children to play with toy guns in public – but as soon as a child of color does it, people get worried that they have a real weapon. It’s completely crazy how unfair some people can be.

One of the reasons why people think it’s a real gun is because the majority of people see children of color as older than their white counterparts. Studies have proven that the general population thinks black children are older than white children based on their appearance, even when this is not true.
