#20: Giant Hands
These hands represent a gigantic statement about global warming. Lorenzo Quinn, an Italian sculptor, mounted them along Venice’s Grand Canal, or the Venice Biennale, as it’s locally known. Quinn used casts of his son’s hands as the base for the model, as he wants people to understand what world we are leaving behind for our children.

Climate change is causing all sorts of issues, and Venice has gotten the brunt so far, with constant flooding. If something isn’t done soon, Venice may cease to exist. Miami, New York, and Shanghai are also under threat of being fully submerged in the not so far off future. As polar ice caps melt and sea levels rise, these cities might completely disappear.
