Up in Flames

This story is an absolute roller coaster ride, and the ending is unexpected and pretty sad. We’re talking rags to riches and then back to rags, with fancy cars and fair-weather friends, and unexpected house fires all along the way.

But do you know what I really take away from this story? First, get yourself some danged homeowners’ insurance, especially if you’re a lottery winner and can definitely afford it. Second, do not keep your money in cash in duffel bags in your house for exactly this reason. If something happens to your house, you may find yourself with no reminders of your previous wealth other than a burnt-out Lambo sitting out in the yard.
