Look, you and I may find this behavior extremely weird, but that’s how rich people stay rich, and how some of them become rich in the first place. It sounds like backward logic, but if this person wouldn’t draw their line somewhere and just spent their money carelessly, how would they stay this rich?

For them, it probably makes perfect sense to refuse to pay an additional dollar for bread. Spending $45 on a bottle of wine makes sense to them, but spending anything more than what they have to for the meal – like an extra dollar for outsourced bread that comes from a local bakery – is outrageous to them.
