It’s On!

Watching a TV show used to be a very different experience than it is now. Nothing was on demand; your favorite TV show aired when it aired, and if you missed it, you might not have a chance to catch a rerun for the next six years. There was no pausing, no rewinding, and no rewatching.

As this poster noted, this meant that you would do anything to get back to your show in time. If you needed to go to the bathroom, you just held it until the next commercial break. And nothing could get your adrenaline pumping like being on the other side of the house and realizing the commercial break was over.
