Wasn’t That Just Last Year?
Confusion (or denial) about what year it is is a common symptom as you get older. When someone mentions a year, you’re certain that was really recent—until you realize that it was twenty years ago. Our concept of time is a strange thing.

So this post from a teacher really resonates with us. Usually, when someone mentions the later part of a previous century, you assume they’re talking about the 1800s or earlier. To talk about the 1900s—as in, the century a lot of us were born in—in the same way one might talk about the Civil War is a real gut punch.
