Iconic Games

These days, with the app store on your phone, there’s no reason to be bored; if you wanted, you could spend literally all your free time playing games. But if you’re old enough, you’ll remember when that wasn’t the case: computer games were rare (and had to be purchased on CD-ROM), so if you didn’t have Internet access, you had to entertain yourself with the games and programs that came free with Windows.

Not knowing how good games would eventually get, we were actually pretty content with our free Windows games, and a lot of us got pretty good at them. Not Minesweeper, though; few of us were patient enough to actually figure out how to play that game well, so we mostly just clicked randomly on tiles until we blew up.
