This next scam is quite popular in lots of cities, especially in areas that are a hotspot for tourists. These scammers will shine your shoes as they distract you, then demand you give them payment for their “work.” Of course, most of the time, people don’t even ask them to do this work!

Instead, the scammers “force” themselves onto their victims, which makes the individuals feel guilty and like they have to pay the shiner. If you’re ever in a situation like this, immediately walk away or call the cops on them. You’re under no obligation to pay if they didn’t tell you the charge before.
