15. You’ve Been… Thunderstruck
This is a particular kind of scary and very close call, given that the lightning strike was right next to a gas tank. Could have been a quick end, but fortunately, this plane made it safely to the ground. Planes are designed to withstand all sorts of major dangers and extreme weather, from heavy winds to lightning and snow.

It is also important to know when the weather is too extreme for the plane to manage its trip. In this case, there isn’t really a way to anticipate something like this would happen. For the most part, planes usually fly above the extreme weather; it’s takeoff and landing that can be problematic.
