40. The Innocence of Childhood

Being alone on an airplane when you’re young is scary. Being on one when you’re an adult and aren’t used to it (and sometimes even when you are) is scary too. This youngster had a particularly harrowing experience when they were 16 on this trip home.

While there is something exciting about being young and getting to go to a different place to study and explore, the experience of such a scare on the way back is likely more memorable than the good memories combined. Really, it is strange how bad memories have a way of overpowering the good.
