#10: Teaching the Next Generation

Go back in time to any school dance in the late ‘90s, and you’ll see hundreds of kids and their chaperones doing the Macarena. Fast forward to today, and it’s a rare treat when kids get a chance to learn it! I’d have laughed myself silly watching a babysitter dance it for my kids.

In fact, I think it’s time to bring it back. Maybe we should all go home today and teach our kids how to do it. It’s the original TikTok dance, right? A little bit of history: the Macarena is by Los del Rio and spent a whopping 60 weeks on the top charts back in 1997-1998, setting a record for straight consecutive weeks in the top 100.
