Learning how to tie your shoes is a big milestone for a child. It’s one of the first things we learn how to do when we’re discovering our fine motor skills, and it’s something most people continue to do on a daily basis. But what if your brain just deleted that skill without any rhyme or reason?

It’s normal to forget some things— like where we left our keys or the right word for something— but forgetting an entire core skill is not as common. When the OP randomly woke up with an inability to tie their shoes, it felt like being a character in a video game who suddenly had his memory wiped, and it was not a pleasant feeling!
