Big Eye

Most people think of fish as cute little things, but not this guy! These bad boys are some of the ugliest fish in the sea but also some of the coolest. They can grow up to 8 feet long, and they’ve got these huge heads with these big, protruding eyes. 

They’re also a super old school; they’ve been around for like 300 million years. They’re also known as “rattails” because of their long, skinny tails. Grenadiers are hardly the best-tasting fish (usually used for fish meal or oil), but they’re important for the ecosystem. So, next time you’re out at sea, keep an eye out for these guys!
