#14: The Bane of My Shopping Experience
I always self-checkout whenever possible – we’ve talked about the need to eliminate interaction with people – and I’ve recently noticed that places like Walmart have turned the scale function off. I guess they got tired of employees being called over to verify purchases and items. It was happening with every single swipe, and it had to be driving them crazy.

Self-checkout was a great idea in theory, but for some reason, it doesn’t work. It’s just not efficient, and groceries haven’t found a way to make it efficient. Walmart now they have this nifty camera system that checks to see if the beep happens when you swipe before you set it in the bagging area.
