#13: Aren’t We All?
We’ve already seen the chart about comfort zones and we’ve established that social interactions are difficult. What makes them even more difficult for the introverts among us is the eye contact. There’s just something that feels to vulnerable and intimate about it, and being vulnerable and intimate doesn’t come easily for some of us.

Being socially awkward is one of the top reasons that I avoid looking at people. I can smile at and stare a stranger right in the eye so long as we’re just passing in an aisle or even waiting at a red light. Take me to a place where I’m supposed to mingle, and suddenly my hands and the floor look super interesting!
