This piece was never published when Mozart was alive. It was most likely a song created as a joke for his friends. The piece, along with the explicit lyrics, were discovered when Mozart’s widow turned over his personal papers to publishers after his death. The raunchy song was heavily censored and changed to “Let Us Be Glad!” The song was wildly different and way more family-friendly. The true, original lyrics weren’t rediscovered until 1991!
