54. Big Jerry
Warren G. Harding isn’t the most beloved president in U.S. history. This scandalous fact doesn’t help. Harding wrote numerous letters to his long-time mistress, Carrie Fulton Phillips, while he was senator of Ohio. The letters, many of which were written on Senate stationary, were sealed until 2014 because the Harding family didn’t want them released.

Once the public got their hands on them, it became pretty obvious why they wanted to keep the letters under wraps for so long. They were pretty explicit! One of the more salacious tidbits from these letters is that Harding referred to “Jerry” a lot. Let’s just say “Jerry” is exactly who you think it is.
