Who knew that forklifts had a reverse gear for reasons other than just backing up? You learn something new every day! It turns out that driving a forklift backward is a safety measure that can prevent some rather awkward and potentially painful mishaps. I mean – impaling people and objects with forklift forks doesn’t sound like a good time for anyone involved. It’s like a game of workplace darts, but with much higher stakes.

So, while it might seem counterintuitive to drive backward, it’s a small price to pay for maintaining visibility and keeping everyone out of harm’s way. Plus, it gives forklift drivers a chance to show off their backward driving skills, which is always a crowd-pleaser at the annual office safety meeting.
