33. No Soup For You!
The Kettle War has got to be the most anti-climactic showdown between two countries in recent history. This “war” was basically just one confrontation between two ships, and only one shot was fired. On October 8, 1784, troops belonging to the Holy Roman Empire and the Seven Republics of the Netherlands met each other at sea.

Tensions between the two countries had been building for some time when De Dolfijn and Le Louis crossed paths. De Dolfijn fired one shot without any warning into Le Louis. This could have caused major casualties and escalated the situation. However, the only thing that was hit onboard was a kettle of soup. Le Louis ended up surrendering right after their major soup loss.
