21. Yo Momma
Many of us have never heard the insult, “your mother wears combat boots.” Although it’s almost never used as an insult nowadays, it used to be a pretty rude turn of phrase! The insult arose around World War II. It didn’t really have anything to do with moms, but it had everything to do with soldiers.

Some say the phrase came from American GIs paying British women workers with their standard-issue boots instead of money. Others say it came from the women who followed the troops around. These women of “loose morals” would sometimes wear combat boots. Basically, the phrase is an old “yo momma” insult.
