12. A Wild Trip
Pittsburgh Pirates starting pitcher Dock Ellis made baseball history on June 12, 1970. He threw a no-hitter against the San Diego Padres. This in and of itself isn’t revolutionary when it comes to professional baseball. However, the fact that Dock Ellis was on LSD makes his no-hitter a feat that has gone down in MLB history.

He was still experiencing the side-effects of the psychedelics when it was time to go out on the field. He was later quoted saying he was “high as a Georgia pine.” Ellis had substance abuse issues during his career as a baseball player. He claimed to have been under the influence of something every single time he played a game. Thankfully, he got sober and worked as a substance abuse counselor after retiring from baseball.
