Bloom Where You’re Planted

This has to be one of the worst HOA rules on this list. This person’s housing community doesn’t allow residents to have plants anywhere outside. Not even a small potted plant! We know not everyone has a green thumb, but banning all plants is too extreme. Do they want everyone’s house to look bland and depressing? Apparently!

One of our storyteller’s neighbors is a rebel and planted some secret basil in their backyard. So far, they haven’t been discovered, but they must live every day in fear of being found out. This person is very frustrated by the “no plant” rule because they live on a golf course. So the HOA can spend a bunch of money watering plain grass, but residents can’t add their own pizzazz?
