#6: Meeting Joanne Woodward
Newman’s connection with Joanne Woodward was instantaneous when they met in 1953 during a Broadway production. She was young, ambitious, and immensely talented, but Newman was already married. He fought his feelings for years, unwilling to leave his responsibilities.

However, as their professional collaboration deepened, so did their emotions. Unlike the women Newman typically attracted, Woodward was sharp, independent, and unimpressed by his movie-star looks. Eventually, unable to resist their undeniable chemistry, Newman made the difficult choice to end his marriage to Jackie Witte.
