#48: Grossinger’s Catskill Resort
In the 1950s, Grossinger’s Catskills Resort was the pinnacle of luxury in New York, famously inspiring the film Dirty Dancing. It featured innovations like artificial snow, its own airstrip, grand ballrooms, golf courses, and extensive sports facilities, attracting guests seeking opulence and leisure.

However, by the 1980s, the resort had fallen into disrepair and closed its doors. Today, it is a decaying relic, a poignant reminder of its former glory and the vibrant social scene that once defined the Catskills.
