#21: Monkey Island
Monkey Island, aptly named for its 4,000 resident rhesus monkeys, is a unique and intriguing site in South Carolina. Originally from Puerto Rico, these monkeys were relocated to Morgan Island due to a herpes B virus outbreak.

To safeguard both the health of the visitors and the well-being of the monkeys, access to the island is strictly prohibited. This restriction ensures that the monkeys can live without human interference while preventing the potential spread of the virus. Monkey Island remains a fascinating yet inaccessible spot.
