#3: This Has Nothing to Do With You
When you become a parent, your priorities shift. Suddenly, things that used to be a big deal seem insignificant compared to the health and well-being of your child. That’s why it’s no surprise that a recent study found that over 70% of parents have canceled plans because their child was sick.

And yet, somehow, some in-laws still call us selfish for doing so. Come on, Karen, do you really expect us to leave our sick child with a babysitter so that we can go to your cocktail party? I firmly believe that caring for your child should always come first, even if it means missing out.
