According to a recent survey, having a bad relationship with your father-in-law is more common than you might think. In fact, 40% of people surveyed reported having a less-than-ideal relationship with their spouse’s dad. But can you really blame us? Fathers-in-law can be some of the trickiest creatures on the planet.

They’re like a combination of your dad and a stranger you’re trying to impress; all rolled into one. This father-in-law might appear nice, but I imagine the guy in this story has to walk on eggshells around him. Talk about having a big ego… As much as this girl’s dad wants to be the only relevant male figure in her life, that obviously isn’t the situation. It will do less damage if he just agrees…
